All-State Jazz Festival

The 2009 South Dakota All State Jazz Band is financially supported by the South Dakota Bandmasters Association. This year the South Dakota High School Activities Association is also co-sponsoring the event. The festival dates are May 7th - 9th, 2009. All rehearsals and the finale concert are held at Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD. The finale concert begins at 7:30pm at the Johnson Fine Art Center on Saturday May 9th, 2009.

This year’s 2009 guest directors are Fred Sturm and Patty Darling from the University of Wisconsin in Appleton, and Mike Tomaro from Duquesne.

Students are selected into one of several jazz ensembles based upon their performance on their audition tapes or CD that were submitted on March 1st, 2009.
