The University of Wisconsin Band celebrated its 35th anniversary of their Annual Spring Varsity Concert this past weekend in Madison, WI at the Kohl Center. The band is led by Professor Michael Leckrone, who is celebrating his 40th anniversary as director of bands at the University of Wisconsin. The concert; a three-night extravaganza complete with professional staging, lighting, sound and pyrotechnics is performed for 25,000 UW Badger fans each year, as a year-end showcase to honor all the seniors for the time and commitment they have put into the band program.
One of the guest artist to play at this event was The Dominant 7 trumpet jazz ensemble from Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota. The group is comprised of 7 trumpets, a bass guitar and drums under the direction & leadership of Dr. Grant Manhart. One of the primary trumpets in this group is RHS Alumni; Ben Chambers / Class of 2007.
